The Wheeler Opera House is pleased to announce Sarah Pelch will be joining the Wheeler team as the historic opera house’s general manager beginning March 20. Sarah will continue her arts administration career in Aspen after working as a booking agent in New York City. She began her career in the artistic and operations departments at the Houston Symphony for two years. Originally from Texas, Sarah studied Music History and Music Business at Loyola University in New Orleans.

Wheeler Opera House Executive Director Gena Buhler states, “We did a national search for our GM position and attracted candidates from all over the country. During the interview process, it became clear that Sarah would be a great fit for our venue and team due to her experience on both the operations and artistic sides of our business. We are excited that Sarah is coming in board and we look forward to welcoming her to the Roaring Fork Valley.”

In the position of general manager, Sarah will manage the venue under the direction of Buhler. She will focus specifically on event management, team supervision, sponsorship negotiations, partnership negotiations, and community rental client management.

During her years as a booking agent in New York, Sarah booked classical and world music, dance and theater performances around the country for Opus 3 Artists, and she also booked commercial rock/pop concerts as an agent at The Agency Group (now United Talent Agency). Prior to that, she was a Managerial Associate at IMG Artists in New York where she organized concert tour logistics for some of IMG’s top clients.

In her 13 years of work at management and booking agencies, Sarah had the opportunity to tour around the country to (cover shows) attend and work at performances at venues of all sizes across the US and Canada. She also worked on the production teams for the IMG Artists festivals: Festival Napa Valley and Festival of the Arts Boca.

“I am looking forward to joining the team at the Wheeler and working with Gena,” summarized Sarah. “I love that it’s a historic venue that offers such a wide variety of programming.” She looks forward to living and working in a community known around the world for its cultural offerings, stunning nature and outdoor activities. And Sarah can’t wait to master black diamonds!
