City of Glenwood Springs officials will host a groundbreaking event on Wednesday November 14 at 3 p.m. for the 27th Street bridge replacement project. The event will be held outside of Rivers Restaurant at 2525 S. Grand Avenue.

Construction of the new bridge is scheduled to begin in early 2019. The new vehicle bridge will be built adjacent to the existing bridge and then slid into place for minimal traffic impacts. A new and separate pedestrian bridge will also be built and all bridge piers will be removed from the Roaring Fork River improving the pedestrian and river user experience.

Event attendees are asked to walk, bike, or carpool to the event as parking is limited in the area. This is a family-friendly event with kid’s activities.

As construction dates are finalized, project updates can be found at the city’s website: http://cogs.us/441/27th-Street-Bridge.
