To celebrate the closing of the 2017 Audi FIS Word Cup, the Wheeler Opera House will present Fireworks and Film on Saturday, March 18. Doors and the Wheeler Bar open at 8:00 PM and the fireworks viewing kicks off at 8:45 PM. Following the fireworks, audiences are invited to enjoy a special screening of the classic ski film “Pretty Faces.” Tickets are FREE to the public, and more information can be had by contacting the Wheeler Opera House Box Office (970.920.5770/ aspenshowtix.com). The Wheeler Opera House is located at 320 E. Hyman Ave., Aspen, CO.
The film “Pretty Faces” celebrates women who thrive in the snow. The concept for the film was originated by professional big mountain skier and SheJumps co-founder, Lynsey Dyer with the objective of giving women and girls, young and old, a source of inspiration through a unique look at what is possible when boundaries are broken, dreams captured and friendships cultivated. In Lynsey’s words “I wanted to give young girls something positive to look up to…I wanted to give them their Blizzard of Ahhs, Ski Movie or High Life, but done in a way that also shows the elegance, grace, community and style that is unique to women in the mountains.”
The prestigious World Cup Finals ski races are the season finale to the World Cup circuit with competitions in downhill, super G, giant slalom, slalom and nation’s team event for both men and women. Aspen was selected by the FIS Council in June of 2014 to be the host for the 2017 event marking the first time the Finals have been held outside Europe since 1997 and the first time the men’s tour has raced at Aspen since 2001.
